The Shirley McFerson Bookstore 

In 2017 the LGHA renamed its bookstore The Shirley McFerson Bookstore in honor of former LGHA Board member, town of Lake George resident storyteller and Librarian Shirley McFerson. Her father was the proprietor of the former Woodbine Motel in Lake George which, in the early 20th century supplied lodging to local and visiting Afro American guests and jazz musicians. Shirley’s walking stick and other artifacts commemorating her life are on display in the bookstore.

The bookstore offers maps and books by many area writers, scholarly books on the important 18 and 19th century battles fought in Lake George, Native American issues and history, suffrage and local and contemporary history.
