Anchor

The anchor was found in Lake George about 100 to 200 feet from Meadow Point,
just north of Huletts Landing.  Reportedly found by Ron Gavaletz, Glen
Taylor, and two other divers from Massachusetts.  The anchor was on a
flat sandy bottom 30 feet below the surface. Mr. Gavaletz has said that
the anchor resembles one from the U.S.S. Constitution in Boston.

Permission to place this artifact on museum display was granted by the
State of New York, as artifacts in the Lake are the State's custodial
property.

Mortar Bomb

The 13 inch mortar bomb is on loan to the Lake George Historical
Association from Fort William Henry.  Reportedly it is one of the mortar
bombs from the bateau-like shipwreck found in 1960 in Lake George.
Several of those mortar bombs ended up in regional museums and it is
said one or two even were sent to the Smithsonian Institution.
