New York State and
federal laws make these resources and shared cultural and historical legacy
and property of the people of New York. These laws help preserve this
cultural heritage so future generations may enjoy and learn from the
historical and archaeological information it contains. Please take
nothing but photographs. Removing artifacts or damaging these resources is
forbidden by law and deprives others of the opportunity to view and study
them. Removing artifacts or damaging shipwrecks, trail lines, signage or
buoys in the preserve system may also jeopardize continuation of the
Submerged Heritage Preserve. These vessels are fragile; please do not touch
the shipwrecks.
If you observe a violation, please report it to authorities by
dialing 911, cellular phone *911. All violations will be investigated and
violators wil be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
Diving Conditions and Guidelines
Diving The Sunken Fleet of 1758 and the Forward Underwater
Classroom is on a first-come, first-served basis. The Sunken Fleet of 1758
and The Forward Underwater Classroom are open Memorial Day into the
autumn.
To dive the Land Tortoise radeau preserve you must register
and be assigned a time slot to dive. Please register at the New York State
Department of Environmental Conservation booth at Lake George Beach, located
at the south end of the lake on Beach Road, Lake George. Diving the radeau
is by registration only. See the radeau section of this site for
registration procedures. The radeau preserve is open from the second
Saturday of June through Labor Day
